HydroNET processes 13 years of German radar data to identify extreme rainfall events
Due to climate change Germany is experiencing extreme rainfall more and more often. More insight in extreme rainfall to make and keep the water system climate resilient is of great importance to German water boards.
On behalf of a consortium consisting of three water boards in the area of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany, HydroNET developed a tool that processes 13 years of German radar data to identify extreme rainfall events.

According to criteria provided by the user, the HydroNET application starts searching and presents a list of rainfall events meeting those criteria. The rainfall events can be viewed online in HydroNET. The events can also be downloaded as a time range and/or grid for further processing in for instance hydraulic or hydrological models.
